A distribution line from the Jönköping Energi plant in Torsvik to the city of Jönköping is being built to increase district heating capacity.
Since January 2020, Canusa-CPS has been successfully supplying CSC-XP™ Advanced Joint Casing System for pre-insulated pipelines using IntelliFUSE™ Automated Electrofusion Welding System.
Part of the Jönköping Project includes trenchless construction requiring Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). One hundred of the PE 710 insulated pipeline field joints will be subjected to HDD. HDD installations introduce abrasion and gouging forces that can damage anti-corrosion coatings and joint casing systems.
Canusa-CPS’ ScarGuard®, a composite abrasion resistant overcoat (ARO), was chosen to protect all the HDD subjected field joints. ScarGuard’s ease-of-application and ability to apply the material in cold temperatures, combined with its proven track record of protecting field joint and mainline coatings from the mechanical stresses and scarring associated with HDD, made it a optimal solution.
