Challenge

M&N Energy Services Ltd. required a mechanical protection system over and above an existing plant applied abrasion resistant overcoat. A fully encapsulated system was required to cover a 10” diameter 550 meter gas transmission pipeline pertaining to a horizontal directional drill in British Columbia, Canada.

Solution

SFL Canusa-CPS responded and supplied 10” x 30’ ScarGuard® for its fiber-reinforced composite mechanical protection system for full encapsulation of the 10” diameter pipeline.

SFL Canusa-CPS Scar-Guard® is a field applied, composite Abrasion Resistant Overcoat (ARO) comprised of fiberglass cloth and pre-impregnated flexible resin which is activated by water and cures within minutes.

Scar-Guard® minimizes the need for costly repairs after pull back, and provides the most robust protection for any underlying pipeline coating.

Onsite training for the installation of ScarGuard® for the M&N Energy Services Ltd. coating team was provided by the Canusa-CPS Field Service team.
